REGAL's continued partnership with the University of Southern Mississippi and the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) has led to the development of several new and exciting opportunities. One example of the partnership's accomplishments includes the Evacuation Planning Tool (EPT) which is now integrated in the Sport E-Vac solution. This partnership has brought multiple government organizations together to ensure proper validation and verification of these proven capabilities.
Just recently at the National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans, the EPT simulation capabilities were unveiled. REGAL's role involved creating and populating the University of Southern Mississippi's football stadium in EPT. There were two scenarios played out, one of which was a normal evacuation and the other a shelter in place evacuation. The results were unexpected to the University and their security department. The tool visualized that over 5,000 people were unable to seek shelter within the stadium in the event of an emergency. Just by conducting a few what-if scenarios, the University realized the need for some additional planning.
The conference was a huge success and had some very powerful speakers including U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and Milt Ahlerich, VP of Security for the NFL. REGAL is extremely honored to be a part of the conference, and part of the partnership with the University of Southern Mississippi and the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4).
